Wilmcote Village Attractions
Mary Arden's House
Walk through the rooms of the house where Shakespeare’s mother grew up and take a trip back in time. Experience the Elizabethan way of life and interact with the daily domestic routine of a working farm. Watch the farmer’s wife prepare and cook her home-grown food in the farmhouse kitchen. Enjoy authentic Tudor entertainment with musicians and dancers setting the scene for high days and holidays and learn Tudor table manners as the household prepares for meal time.
Beautiful Canalside Walks
Just a 5 minute stroll from The Cider House or Harpe Cottage takes you to the canal tow path; you can either turn left for a gentle 20 minute walk which brings you back round to the village and past Mary Ardens House or turn right for the walk to Stratford along the landscaped tow path. This walk will take you approximately 1 hour and leads you to the canal basin in the heart of Stratford. After a busy day of sightseeing and shopping the preferred route of return is to take the train from Stratford station back to Wimcote.
Wilmcote Rail Station
As a small village, Wilmcote is very fortunate to have a train station with direct links to Stratford-upon-Avon, Birmingham, Warwick Parkway and onwards to London Marylebone. Leave the car at your holiday rental and hop on the train to see Shakespeare’s many attractions in Stratford upon Avon which takes approximately 9 minutes on the train from Wilmcote. Or visit the city of Birmingham with a direct link to Moor Street Station taking approximately 50 minutes.
